Terms of service
Who you are booking with
Staylum lets you book a stay directly with the host who owns it. Your booking is an agreement between you and that host. We provide the site, take the payment on the host's behalf, and pass it on to them less our commission.
Making a booking
The price you see before paying is the price you pay: the nightly rate, any fees and any taxes are itemised before the payment step. While you are checking out, your dates are held for a short time so nobody else can take them. If you do not finish, the hold is released and the nights go back on sale.
Some stays confirm as soon as you pay. Others are a request the host answers first, in which case nothing is taken from you until they approve it and you pay the link they send. A request that is declined, or that the host does not answer in time, costs you nothing.
Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your booking is confirmed once payment succeeds, and you receive a confirmation code by email. If payment fails, no booking is made and no nights are held.
If two guests pay for the same nights at once, only the first is confirmed. The other is refunded in full.
Security deposit
Some stays ask for a refundable security deposit. Where one applies it is shown separately before you pay and is not part of your total. It is normally held on your card rather than taken, and released after check-out unless the host reports a problem within the review window shown on the listing.
If the host reports damage or another issue within that window, they must give a reason, and we will contact you before anything is claimed.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancellation terms are set by the host for each stay and are shown on the listing before you book, again at checkout, and on your confirmation. Your confirmation page always shows the exact refund for cancelling at that moment.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually take five to ten business days to appear. If a host cancels a confirmed booking, you are refunded in full.
What we ask of you
- Give accurate details when booking, so the host can reach you.
- Follow the house rules shown on the listing.
- Treat the place and its neighbours with care.
- Do not book on behalf of someone else without telling us.
Limits
The stay itself is provided by the host, not by Staylum. Descriptions, photos and house rules are theirs. We are responsible for the site and for handling your payment correctly; we are not responsible for the condition of the property or for what happens during your stay, except where the law says otherwise.
Nothing here removes any right you have under Canadian consumer law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Saskatchewan and of Canada, and disputes belong to the courts of Saskatchewan.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in force when you made it.
